With over 20 years of experience as a qualified teacher, I have dedicated my career to helping children unlock their potential and develop confidence in their learning. Recently, I have specialised in dyslexia and multi-sensory teaching, where I use structured, engaging approaches to support children who learn differently.
I firmly believe that education should be shaped around the child—not the other way around. This belief became deeply personal when my own daughter, a bright and capable learner, struggled to thrive within the traditional school system. Despite trying everything I knew as an experienced educator, she fell significantly behind her peers.
Everything changed when I discovered multi-sensory teaching. Through this approach, she was finally able to access learning in a way that worked for her. Today, she can now read and writes at an expected level—a transformation that reinforced my passion for helping other children experience the same success.
While I love working in the classroom, the lack of funding and resources makes tailoring the teaching to each individual impossible. Through my work at Decoding Dyslexia, I am able to provide personalised, targeted support—tailoring each session to the unique way your child learns.
My mission is simple: to ensure every child feels capable, confident, and understood - like my Mary now does.

My Teaching Philosophy
At Dyslexia Decoded, I believe that every child has a unique way of processing the world around them. My approach is rooted in a multi-sensory, structured, and evidence-based framework that transforms the learning experience from a source of frustration into one of discovery.
By tailoring every session to the specific needs of the learner, I focus on identifying and building upon individual strengths. This personalised path helps reduce anxiety, allowing young people to engage with their studies in a way that feels natural and achievable.
Progress is built through patience and empathy. Together, we work not just on academic skills, but on fostering the self-belief that unlocks a student's full potential, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.
“Every learner deserves to feel capable, understood, and proud of their progress.”
